{September 14, 2009}   The big comeback: Jean Jackets

So.. remember that jean jacket you had back in high school that you tossed in the “Good Will” box in the basement when spring cleaning, thinking you would never be caught dead in it again? Well, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but, it’s back. For all you pack rats that managed to keep this classic wardrobe piece tucked in the back of your closet just in case, I applaud you. The jean jacket can easily be thrown over a cute, vibrant tank or floral skirt/dress.

{September 2, 2009}   Double Denim

We all know Double Denim has made a huge come back lately and almost every celeb out there is wearing it. I have to say I was never a big fan of Double Denim at all… until recently. I think the key to getting it right is wearing two completely different shades of denim. Black jeans and a blue denim jacket seem to be a big hit, I think this looks great, as seen on Vanessa Hudgens, Dakota Fanning and more. You don’t want to have matching denim shades in your Double Denim outfit, it will clash and look really wrong. The only way I think matchy denim will work is with a little denim vest, as long as you pair it with a top of a different colour so you break up the shades, Ashley Tisdale make this look hot! Really dark jeans and a light denim shirt is a must do as well! These two shades of denim really make the outfit stand out. So remember the key to wearing Double Denim, dark denim at the bottom and light denim at the top. Always a winner!

{August 14, 2009}   The new Trend: Bleached Denim

Bet you never thought you’d be excited to see bleach spots on your clothes post-wash, right? After getting the scoop that bleach in back, I’m kicking myself for foolishly tossing all those clothes I cried about when they came out of the wash with phantom bleach stains. If only I’d known that my washing machine was simply ahead of the times.

48484b7cc1f71dc5_bleached_jeanscuddy-bleachedWhy We Love Bleached Denim:
Besides the fact that we’ll never have to worry about bleach incidents ever again, the bleached denim trend keeps our favorite figure-flattering jean new, and it’s a perfect compliment to this season’s grunge, and 80’s trends.

How to Bleached Denim:
Pair skinny styles with oversized, off the shoulder tops and stray away from patterns. Or pair with a fun graphic t-shirt for a rockin’ look.

Don’t worry, this one is safe to wash with colors!

{July 23, 2009}   The Boyfriend Jeans Trend

How to wear this trend:

There are a few simple rules to follow, and some even simpler choices to make:

  • Choice: The jeans don’t have be your boyfriends. Not because you mightn’t have one, but because you’re soon going to be able to find jeans made for women that channel the look. But if you’re after real authenticity hit your local denim store and shop in the men’s section. Holmes herself is wearing jeans by PRPS.
  • Choice: If you are going to buy a pair, don’t feel the need to buy new. A vintage pair from your local charity shop will have more authenticity.
  • Rule: Look for a straight leg. Bootcut or flared jeans aren’t in the least bit flattering for this trend.
  • Rule: Turn them up at the bottom. Remember, this is a Spring-Summer 2009 look so you’re not going to get cold from a bit of exposed ankle. And you’re not going to communicate the ‘oversized’ message unless your jeans are turned up.
  • Rule: When you do turn up the bottom of the jeans, they have to sit just above the ankle.
  • Choice: Yes, all the celebrities in the above photos have gone for jeans which include the 2009′s ripped jeans trend. You don’t have to.
  • Choice: Consider what you’re going to pair them with. One thing Kate Holmes did get right most of the time was to pair her boyfriend jeans with an overall feminine look. That’s the one I’m preferential to; there is nothing, however, stopping you from pairing it with a tight fitting tee or hoody and really playing up the masculine role.
  • Rule: If you do choose to pair your boyfriend jeans with other masculine pieces make them tight. You have to show off your feminine features otherwise you’ll come off looking like a bum or, worse, a stoner.

{July 13, 2009}   Barter Your Designer Jeans
Every fashion addict knows about the indescribable high costs to get what you want. And most of us do know about the two most common alternatives to find designer samples and trends: flea markets &second hand shops. In NYC, my beloved treasure boxes are located in Brooklyn and Queens. The Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn,Greenpoint is transformed into a street flee market every weekend and Williamsburg is full of hidden secondhand shops . In Queens one of the last stops of the A train heading to JFK is the biggest flea market I haveever seen in my life! (Rockaway Blvd & 110th St, Jamaica) It’s absolutely amazing what kind of designer anvintage clothes are sold for a minimum price at these locations…
Jeans_5_smallJeans_4_2
and now I will share the 3. alternative of getting stuff for free with you: BARTER!A few days ago I’ve been browsing through the Internet looking for new “used” fashion and stumbled on a website called BarterQuest.com. It’s an online trading platform where you can swap stuff for free.

This season, fashion isn’t only about wearing stuff from your own closet. One of the hottest trends involves stealing.. from a guy’s wardrobe. That’s right – menswear-inspired fashion is hot for Summer 2009, evidenced by the recent popularity of boyfriend jeans.

Now obviously, depending on your size and your boyfriend’s size, you don’t have to literally steal a pair of jeans from your guy to rock this trend. Instead, you can buy this style of jeans in a store, or pick up a pair of smaller guy’s jeans at a vintage shop.

What’s a boyfriend jean? In a nutshell, it’s either literally a pair of guy’s jeans, or a pair of jeans that looks and fits like it was borrowed from a guy – loose fit, low rise, cuffed hems. Of course, this look doesn’t exclude single ladies. There are plenty of budget-friendly boyfriend jeans available for purchase in stores everywhere – no boys required.

Katie Holmes first started the boyfriend jean trend last summer, sporting a pair of loose, cuffed jeans with flats while out in NYC. Since then, it’s caught on in a big way (especially with celebs like Rachel Bilson and Victoria Beckham), and is now one of the hottest jeans trends for summer 2009.

{June 23, 2009}   Back In the 70′s
kate-moss-jeans blake-lively-trl-210407 Back from the 70s, the skinny jeans trend is here to stay. Although everyone was skeptical about it at first, now none wants to let go of this sexy style. Skinny jeans look great on both tall and short girls as it elongates the legs creating a taller and leaner look.Ladies with heavier hips, thighs and butt, please avoid this style as the focus on your tiny ankles will make your curves look bigger than they are. Looks fabulous on boyish figures as it assents the hips. Can be worn on any occasion, on heels and flats, however if you are short or petite, opts for heels as they will make you look a little taller. Skinny jeans are absolutely fabulous – as long as you know how to work it!

{May 15, 2009}   Celbrity Jeans Trend 2009

Jeans still rule, because it is highly practical and comfortable but denim fashion trends has been seen so many transformations that no one will hardly imagine what can surprise now to a fashionista in this new style of jeans.

Initially, blue jeans were simply sturdy trousers worn by workers, especially in the factories during World War II. During this period, men’s jeans had the zipper down the front, whereas women’s jeans had the zipper down the right side. By the 1960s, both men’s and women’s jeans had the zipper down the front.

Jeans come in many styles and fits based on the manufacturer; some of most popular brands include Lee’s, Levis, Ralph Lauren, Urban Pipeline, Unionbay, NoBoundaries, Wranglers, Old Navy, and G-Star Raw. The styles popular of teenagers include yellow and white fades to look as if they have been worn down and been worked in and skinny jeans worn with flats or Sperry Top-Siders in in a wide range of colors from red and purple to more traditional black and various shades of blue. Some brands even sell vintage looks where the legs are pre-scrathed and torn before use.

In the past years designer clothes(vêtements de marque) jeans have been partly replaced by dresses, leggings and other designers’ stuff. However, they are back with us and now they are very manly! It’s new denim lauren ralph jeans trends 2009!

Currently, they are popularized by celebrities and it is new as girls used to like visiting men clothes’ department store to try on some new modern pieces. For instance, girls from far ‘80s liked to “borrow” their stylish denim. And now we see the revival of this style in a womens wardrobe the boyfriend Jeans.

This jeans are again accepted as a greatest trend of the season! If you love faded jeans and studied styles, you’ll love these as much as we do. A fab cross between casual and chic you could wear to anything.

Celebrities like Katie Holmes, Victoria Beckham and Rachel Bilson are well-known for using the boyfit Jeans but … before you run out to buy your first pair of boy-inspired jeans..some experts started giving their advice on how to wear such jeans: with beautiful heeled shoes and sexy tops. So that you accent the closest fit part of the pant to your body. A closely fit button down shirt keeps in theme of looking like you borrowed your man’s clothes, and makes the look polished enough to wear to the office.

A fierce high heel, especially a gladiator heel, keeps it edgy and adds the perfect hint of rugged sexiness, to complete the outfit and prevent your legs from looking stumpy in this baggier fit style.

It feels like it’s never going to be sunny again with these drizzly days… we’re cheering ourselves up by wearing bright colours!
