Best gal pal: the denim dress

Cue denim’s summer best gal pal, the denim dress. Spotted on some of our favorite celebrities, the denim dress gives you that laidback and casual look while keeping you perfectly cool.

I first noticed this trend on the runways for Spring/Summer of 2007 season. Dolce and Gabbana executed the look beautifully with their usual full fierceness! The trend was seen on a celebrity here and there, but seemed to fade away with time. Now it’s back just in time for the Fall 2009 season and even some premium denim designers are jumping on board.

Spotted: Celebrities in Jeans

	Hayden Panettiere in 7 For All Mankind. Feeling the need for retail therapy, Hayden Panettiere was spotted   hitting up Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills. Joined by a gal pal, Hayden looked summertime sexy as she made her way to her car while sporting a yellow scoopneck top with her 7 for all mankind shorts. She is looking really fine here, I don’t know too many people that have the right skin tone for a yellow shirt, but she looks great!
	Britney Spears in True Religion. Making the most of her tour break in the States, Britney treated her two boys,   Jayden James and Sean Preston, to a day full of fun wearing her True Religion shorts for what seems like the millionth time! She and her family first headed out on a yacht in Marina Del Rey for a relaxing boat ride, joined by a few of her trusty helping hands. Sure they look great on her, but will someone please gift this girl some new shorts?!
	Jessica Alba in J Brand Zombie Jessica Alba takes a break from mommy duty to go shopping with a friend.   She’s wearing J Brand “912 Zombie” pencil leg jeans. I think they look cute cuffed at the bottom. Although Jessica claims she doesn’t really have style, she always looks casually cool!

It’s been hard to miss Katie Holmes’s recent style switch-up since arriving to New York to start rehearsals for her Broadway debut. Gone are the chic dresses and sleek bob — instead, Katie has been sporting a shorter, wispier ‘do and tons of baggy denim. In fact, we’ve spotted Katie in the same pair of baggy, pegged jeans multiple times in the past week! Turns out that they are the $360 “Barracuda” style from the celeb-fave men’s Prps line — in fact, David Beckham swears by them (and wife Victoria borrows them from him literally!). Prps is even coming out with a women’s style for fall based on how much women love the men’s line, appropriately called “the Boyfriend.” We know Katie is onto a huge fall trend here — she’s not the only star we’ve spotted in baggy jeans lately — but we can’t quite get adjusted to her new look! Kardashian Likes Skinny Jeans

We haven’t seen Kim’s overly famous curves in a while (read “one week”), so here’s a treat for all of you who missed them: Kim Kardashian looking plump in a pair of tight jeans… and from the most relevant perspective of all.
